Pick a Blog, Any Blog

Hi, everyone, this is yet another class post.  (I seem to have no time for normal posts anymore...I'll try to work on that, but my schedule just got busier, which is just what I need....)
The blog I found is called Have Passport, Will Travel. It's a blog about where this particular person has gone around the world.  They describe where they have been and where they would like to go.  Also, the setup of the blog is easy to navigate and appealing to the eye.
The very first thing on every page is where the author has been as of yet.  They have an interactive map with small pushpins to locate the exact place they went to.  The theme of the blog is simple but pretty, with lots of pictures and details.  Another cool feature is the traffic feed on the side.  It shows who has visited and when, for example it showed there was a user from my hometown a few days ago, which I found amusing.
The author has made many posts about where he/she has been and where they are going next.  I've always wanted to travel to other countries, and by looking at the pictures this author has posted, it felt like I was there.  His/her photography skills are fantastic and include the entire scene, such as a beautiful purple sunset over the ocean. There are other photos on there such as pictures of where they have stayed while visiting.  All in all, this person's blog is greatly detailed and kept up-to-date, unlike some of the other blogs I found.

(To anyone who is waiting for a book post, there will hopefully be one soon, as I just finished a fantastic book.  I'll try to get it up ASAP, but it probably won't be for a day or two.)

My Favorite Site

Hi, everyone!  This is another class post.  This time it'll be about my favorite website.

My favorite website is probably Fail Blog.  I like it because it amuses me ad it's very entertaining.  The title of the web page is clearly visible and even has a picture to go along with it.  The search bar is in a good location and the color scheme really catches your eye.  It is easy to use because of the page numbers and "vote yes" and "vote no' buttons.  The fonts suit the web page because they announce each new "fail" and tell what it is about.  The menus above the title give links to other sites created by the author (which are also very funny).  The only thing that isn't perfect is the search bar.  it searches the entire Internet for the "fail' you are looking for, and it is not always accurate.  Oftentimes it finds some random article on a person's blog that has the word 'fail' in it somewhere.  Otherwise the web page is fine, and it provides amusement for me daily.

What's Going On

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know (because you may or may not be wondering), I haven't been to the library in a while, so I have no books.  I mean, sure I have all the ones on my bookcase, but I practically know those stories by heart!  So until I get to the library, I won't post another book review.  Hopefully that will be soon!

My History on the Internet

All right, this is a post about my history of using the Internet.  (This is a class post, my posts will be about books mostly.)
My first memory of the Internet is going on gaming sites.  I first used the Internet around age 5 or age 6, but I can't remember anything that I did because it was so long ago.  I used to go on game sites all the time.  I would play puzzle games and 'escape' games (you know, like getting out of a locked room...).  I also used to use it for homework (Schoolnotes!) and research for projects.
I used to use the Internet for gaming and email.  Now I usually use it for surfing and keeping on contact with friends.  I have a Gmail, which has a chat feature that I use to stay in touch with friends I don't see very often.  I also use it for checking my email and getting information about my school (my school has a blog).
I think that in the future I will use the Internet for ordering packages, doing taxes, email, and much more.  my generation is the technological generation.  I believe that once I am older there will have been many more tools to use the Internet with.  Facebook may be big right now, but will it be in ten years?  Who can tell?  We may even be controlling our cars using the Internet.  The Internet is constantly evolving, with new information added to it every day.  Only time will tell what it will become.

First Review!

Hi, readers!  This is going to be my very first book review.  The book I just finished was "Life As We Knew It" by Susan Beth Pfeffer.  It's the first in a trilogy of books.  This book tells the story of Miranda Evans through her diary entries.  Her entries tell us of an asteroid or comet hitting the moon, which knocks it closer to the Earth.  Catastrophic events soon begin, such as tsunamis.  As most of you know, the moon controls the tides.  When the moon gets knocked closer to Earth, its gravitational pull on the world's large bodies of water increases.  Giant tsumanis flood coastal cities like Boston and New York.  (Miranda lives inland, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.)  Then the earthquakes shake the Earth and volcanoes, even ones that have been dormant for thousands of years, begin to erupt, blocking out the sun.  More horrific events continue to happpen, altreing life as they knew it forever.
I won't ruin the ending for you because it really is a good book.  I thought the author included a lot of description and accurate information about what really would happen if the moon was pushed closer to the Earth.  (I'm not just a book nerd, I'm a space nerd and technology nerd too.)  I liked this book so much that I read the other two also.  They are, respectively, "The Dead and the Gone" and "This World We Live In".  The author used great detail and realistic language for a teenager like Miranda.  The book's genre is somewhere between science fiction and fantasy.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys apocalypse-type books, survival books, and books about daily life.  Don't forget to choose a label!

I forgot....

By the way, after the posts I write, there is a small bar that says "Reactions". I added three Reaction buttons: Like, Hate, Will Try. When I finally start summarizing books, I'd like it if you could click which one applies to you. If you've already read the book and like it, check Like. If you've read it and you dislike it, check Hate. If you think it's interesting, check Will Try. Simple enough, right?

Buying

So, when I read, I mostly get books from my public library (which you will not know the name of, either. There're a lot of things you won't know the names of...), but when I buy books, I usually get them from Barnes and Noble, Amazon, or Borders. Barnes and Noble has to be my favorite, though, so here is the link for their website. Barnes and Noble Website

Hello!

Hi, Internet users!
My name (my pennname, actually, you'll never get to know my real name) is Swimmer Girl.  This is the first post on my blog, so I'm going to expain what will go on around here.  This is a blog I created for a class.  It's a place where I'll review some of the books I've read.  I'l try to post every week, but I can't promise anything, because my schedule is kind of full.  I like to read mostly science fiction and fantasy books. Feel free to leave comments suggesting books of your own, or just saying hi!

Keep reading, everyone!
